About the Lead Agencies
ACTION, Inc.
ACTION, Inc. is a non-profit, community action agency that was incorporated in 1965 with a mission to help individuals and families in ten Northeast Georgia counties transition from poverty to self sufficiency. In partnership with those we serve, ACTION, Inc. provides an array of human development programs. Our services help families to overcome crisis situations, receive adequate nutrition, secure and maintain jobs, achieve a higher level of education, and gain safe, affordable and energy efficient housing. These direct services are provided through offices across the ten county areas.
The Institute for Nonprofit Organizations at The University of Georgia
The Institute for Nonprofit Organizations provides an interdisciplinary group of graduate teaching, research, and service programs at UGA that focus upon improving the leadership and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations.
The Institute offers an array of opportunities for students, professionals, and scholars of nonprofit organizations as well as those seeking careers in them. It prepares students with knowledge and skills necessary for management and leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, and it develops and disseminates knowledge to strengthen the effectiveness of those already in leadership positions

Community Connection of Northeast Georgia
The mission of Community Connection of Northeast Georgia is to nurture, develop, and maintain information & systems which empower individuals and communities to access needed resources and services. Today, Community Connection of Northeast Georgia serves our community in three primary ways:
GET HELP
We connect individuals in the 14 county area to resources via our 2-1-1 Information and Referral Helpline which provides more than 30,000 referrals to the individuals in need of services each year.
GIVE HELP
We connect thousands of interested citizens to volunteer opportunities in our community via our HandsOn Northeast Georgia program.
GROW HELP
We connect organizations to resources (including each other) via our Non-Profit Development Alliance, which helps non-profit organizations receive the training, support and assistance they need while ‘incubating’ new programs to fill gaps in services.
